Colombia
Obtaining residency in Colombia offers the freedom to live and work in a country with a low cost of living, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes. It allows you to enjoy access to high-quality healthcare and explore diverse opportunities without the full commitment of citizenship.

For those visiting Colombia for a temporary period of time, typically ranging anywhere from a short stay to 5 years, various visas such as the Visitor Visa (V) or the Migrant Visa (M) are granted. The purpose of these visas ranges from personal travel interest to professional interests such as work and education. The Migrant Visa (M) is usually viewed as the visa of interest to those seeking permanent residency in Colombia. The Migrant Visa (M) is typically granted for a period of three years and is most used for retirement, marriage, real estate, and business.

Permanent Residency
Permanent Residents are provided with a Resident Visa (R) and are granted for an indefinite period of time. There are 4 main pathways to attaining the Resident Visa (R):
Renunciation of Nationality: This pathway is specifically for individuals who have renounced their Colombian Nationality in the past, yet wish to remain and live in the country for an indefinite amount of time.
Time Spent in Colombia with Migrant Visa (M): With proof of residency for periods of time while in possession of a Migrant Visa (M), a Resident Visa (R) may be granted. The specifications and requirements vary based on the amount of time spent lived in the country. Generally, proof of residency for at least 3 to 5 years is preferred.
Peace Protest Membership: Individuals having participated in the Peace Protests to protect and defend Colombia may be granted a Residency Visa (R) via this pathway. Particular respect and honor is given to those who contributed to peace efforts or were victims of the decades of conflict. Proof of Involvement or Victim Status is required for this pathway.
Venezuelan Migrant Protection Support: Colombia introduced Temporary Protection Status (TPS) for Venezuelan Migrants in 2021 in response to the country's mass migration. Individuals seeking this pathway to a Residential Visa (R) are required to sign up directly with the Colombian Government during designated sign-up periods.
